Eric, actually if you look at the primary source you posted a link to, you are combining two studies. The study mentioned in this article does not use a calorie-matched control. It just compares meal day with fast day.

I take your point, but the problem with health care is that everyone eventually makes use of it. You dont really get to 'choose' whether or not you stay healthy. That is the problem. So, health - like an automobile - is something in which insurance is simply part of the cost of maintaining it.
